Those of you who have followed me or this page for a long time know how much I have railed against unconstitutional Mandatory Minimum sentencing since I was convicted of an impaired driving charge while out riding my ATV on a trail in rural New Brunswick. I have only just recently begin to recover financially, and get my license back,. This happened back in 2011 (conviction date was in 2012). That is ten years of my life, and the lives of my loved ones, that was severely affected. I almost lost everything I worked for since I was 15 years old. Thankfully, we all did everything in our power to prevent that from happening. I will spare you the full recollection of the hell we went through for all those years. Believe me when I say I could write a entire book on it.

However, it should have never gotten to that point in the first place. There was no accident. I was charged and convicted based on these very arbitrary standards and mandatory minimum sentencing provisions that are clearly set up in a manner to give police and the courts carte-blanche capabilities to destroy as many lives as they wish. I will never, ever forget what those petty tyrants did to me and my family. The injustice I suffered is just one of countless examples where the State used the full force of an unconstitutional law to cause severe hardships for Canadians; men in particular.
