The CBC doesn't have to get their daily marching orders from the Liberal government. Even CBC personalities who have since left, and are now working as independent journalists, have disclosed the very heavy bias that dominates the culture if that organization. It starts at the top with Catherine Tait, who donated to the Hillary Clinton campaign, and trickles down through the entire corporation due to hiring practices that enlist even more likeminded progressives. Rinse and repeat over many years, and you end up with the CBC as it is now, with a very narrow Overton window of allowable thought or opinion.
Gaslighting us, or pretending that reality doesn't exist, does nothing to address the legitimate concerns we Canadians have, in terms of getting accurate information, and not being constantly fed a diet of progressive/leftist narratives.
Millions of Canadians like myself never, ever see or hear our informed perspectives relayed, considered, or reported by anyone in the CBC. We tried desperately to offer a reasonable and thoughtful approach to dealing with Covid-19, only to be labeled Far Right, conspiracy theorists, and grandparent killers. The same goes for many big stories that affect us all. It is always the same ideologically biased reporters or panelists regurgitating progressive talking points and limiting discourse, while attempting to create the illusion of inclusion.
@brodiefenlon should put a little effort into understanding and accepting the fact that Canadians are not a monolith, and actually begin allowing diverse/ counter-perspectives to exist in the content they produce. That is the only way the CBC will ever gain back. the trust of Canadians.
